A library of hands-on, open-ended, design and build challenges that extend classroom instruction into real-world CTE applications.
Challenge
Glowforge needed a strategic partner to design and author engaging instructional content to support large-scale adoption and application of their products in career technical education (CTE) programs. Given the breadth of CTE—serving well over a dozen career/industry clusters, each having anywhere from 3-9 individual career pathways—they needed to identify and focus on developing and tailoring more advanced instructional content for those career/industry clusters that most aligned to their product.
Solution
We created a collection of 20 open-ended design and build challenges that extend classroom instruction in a hands-on real-world fashion, applying concepts and practices commonly taught in the Business/Marketing, Art and Design, and Manufacturing CTE career/industry clusters. Each design and build challenge includes student-facing materials and educator/instructor facilitator guide to support using the activity in high school and community college CTE programs.
